The features

What StoryLink actually does.

StoryLink is an iPhone and iPad app for reading a picture book with your child when you are in two different places. You are both on a live video call, the same book is open on both screens, and when you turn the page, their page turns too. Story calls and the 300+ book library are free, forever.

Made in Moreton Bay. Available in Australia and New Zealand.

How it works

Three steps, and what the other house needs

01

The app goes on both devices

Free on the App Store, and free at their end too. They don’t need a plan to read with you.

02

Start a story call

Pick a book and call. Their device rings and the same book opens on both screens. It can be a grown-up's phone or iPad at that end; a small child doesn't need one of their own. You can also book a time, and both devices get a reminder.

03

You turn the page, their page turns too

You read out loud, they see every picture. The book isn't covering the camera, so you can see each other's faces the whole way through.

Everything it does

The whole app

Reading together is free forever: the live story calls and the library. You only pay if you want personalised books, because those cost real money to make. The prices are here.

01Free

Live story calls

Read a picture book together on a live video call, with the page turning on both screens at the same moment. Unlimited, free, and free at their end too.

02Free

A library, free forever

300+ picture books already in the app, to read together any time. No subscription, no locked books, no ads.

03

Your child, the hero

Type who the book is for, their age and the kind of story. The app writes and illustrates a picture book starring them, usually in a few minutes. Here's exactly how that's made.

04Free

Read in your own voice

Record yourself reading a book, so your child can hear you at bedtime on the nights a live call isn't possible.

A picture book page open in the StoryLink reader.
05

Star Stories

Your child presses a big button and tells you a story idea out loud: dragons, rockets, puppies. You get a notification, you approve it, and it becomes a real illustrated book.

06

Stars & goals

Reading earns stars towards goals you set together, so your child has a reason to ask for one more page.

Photo stories

Your own family photos, illustrated into a storybook, each one with a short story movie to go with it. Part of the Family Studio plan.

Printed keepsakes

A favourite personalised book, printed as a real hardback for the shelf. We're building this. It isn't available yet, and we'll say so here the day it is.

Built for

Families apart at bedtime.

The FIFO or DIDO parent on a two-week swing. The Defence mum or dad posted away, deployed, or out on exercise. Separated parents doing a week each. Grandparents interstate or overseas. And any parent whose work keeps them in another city on a school night.

It runs over the internet, not the phone network, so there are no international call charges. You both just need a decent connection at each end.

Safe by design

Checked before your child ever sees it.

Every page of a personalised book, both words and pictures, is checked by a second, independent AI before your child sees it, and the book comes to you first. Photos used for a photo story are deleted from our servers once the book is made, with an automatic 24-hour cleanup as a backstop. Children sign in with a PIN, not an email, and only ever see their own family's library. No ads, no data sold, ever. Your family's data is stored with Google, in Australia and the United States; it's all set out in our Privacy Policy.
